Calculate 10-year CVD risk including hsCRP and family history
Normal: <1 mg/L | Elevated: 1-3 mg/L | High: >3 mg/L
High-sensitivity CRP (hsCRP) is a marker of inflammation. Chronic low-grade inflammation contributes to atherosclerosis. Including hsCRP improves risk prediction, especially for those at intermediate risk by traditional factors.
The Reynolds Risk Score was developed to improve cardiovascular risk prediction by incorporating two additional factors: high-sensitivity CRP (a marker of inflammation) and parental history of premature MI. These factors help reclassify many patients into more appropriate risk categories.
Originally developed for women (who were often underestimated by Framingham), it was later extended to men. The Reynolds Score has been shown to improve risk stratification compared to traditional risk scores.
Low cardiovascular risk from inflammation
Average/moderate cardiovascular risk
High risk; if >10 may indicate acute inflammation
