Assess your platelet count and understand your blood clotting status
Also called thrombocyte count
Platelets (thrombocytes) are cell fragments that help your blood clot. They stick together to form plugs at injury sites to stop bleeding.
Platelets (thrombocytes) are small cell fragments produced by megakaryocytes in bone marrow. They play a crucial role in hemostasis (stopping bleeding) by forming the initial plug at sites of blood vessel injury.
A normal platelet count is 150,000-400,000 per microliter. Too few platelets (thrombocytopenia) increases bleeding risk, while too many (thrombocytosis) can increase clotting risk.
