Calculate Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin - the average amount of hemoglobin per red blood cell
MCH = (Hb × 10) ÷ RBC
MCH in picograms (pg)
MCH: Amount of Hb per cell (picograms)
MCV: Volume/size of cells (femtoliters)
MCHC: Concentration of Hb in cells (g/dL)
Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin (MCH) measures the average amount of hemoglobin in each red blood cell, expressed in picograms (pg). It helps characterize anemia as hypochromic (low hemoglobin content) or hyperchromic/normochromic.
MCH typically correlates with MCV - cells that are small (microcytic) usually also have less hemoglobin (hypochromic), while large cells (macrocytic) often have more hemoglobin (hyperchromic).
